FAQs
What is your cancellation policy?
Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable, unless you are active duty military and have received new orders.
Are there any cancellation policy exceptions?
Weather, emergencies, or other issues of public safety may cause cancellation or postponement of the event(s), outside of the control of event management. In the instance of an unforeseen event cancellation, a majority of event expenses have already incurred. Should such event cancellation or postponement occur, registered participants will have two options:
- Defer entry to future event date
- Donate event registration fees to official event charity
Specific protocol for allocating participant registration fees would be communicated to participants in the case of an event cancellation. Communication would specify participant response time within a limited time window following the cancellation to allow for adequate management action. We all hope this never happens!
Are strollers or wheelchairs allowed?
Yes, wheelchairs and strollers are welcome to participate in the People’s race. Please use caution and be mindful of fellow participants on course by starting toward the back of the race and remain with other runners and walkers who also have strollers or wheelchairs. Unauthorized bicycles and motorized vehicles are not permitted on course at any time due to safety concerns.
How do I earn an age division award?
Runners are eligible for age group awards if you place in the top 3, male or female, for your specific Age Group Division race. Runners must run in their Age/Gender Division race to earn an award in your category. (e.g., Male 27 years old is only eligible for awards in the Men 39 & Under race // Woman 53 years old is only eligible for awards in the Masters Women (40+) race)
Where should I park for the expo/race?
Street parking is available throughout the Village of Carlsbad and surrounding areas. We also encourage participants to carpool or take the public transportation to Carlsbad Village.
What is the course time limit?
Due to the train schedules, races have a 60 minute time limit.
Does the train schedule impact when my race will start?
Yes, it could. Unfortunately, the train schedule is never final and can be altered at any point. As such, the races can be stopped, delayed, and are subject to change at any time (including race day) for the safety of all event participants.
What is the age minimum for the 5K?
7 years old. For younger participants, parents are encouraged to run with their child at Junior Carlsbad. Junior Carlsbad is perfect for ages 12 and under.
Can my family and friends watch me cross the finish line?
Absolutely! The course is super spectator-friendly and the finish line is accessible for your personal paparazzi to see you.
