Q: What are the rules for the virtual Carlsbad 5000? How can I submit my time?
A: Participants should complete their race between September 14-20, 2020. While participation is an honor system, we are excited to offer an official results platform for the 2020 virtual event! Information for where and how to enter or upload will be emailed to participants before race week.

Q: When will I receive my race kit?
A: Race kits will be mailed beginning August 31.

Q: Will my shirt and medal have event dates on them?
A: Yes, the original spring race date of March 21-22, 2020 is on the back of the race shirt and finisher medals. All shirts and medals were ready to go for race weekend before we had to postpone just days before the event. Let’s call it a reminder of just how crazy this year has already been!

Q: I am registered for the All Day 20K. What does my race kit include?
A: In addition to the the 2020 race shirt, the official 20K medal, a race bib, and useful swag from our event sponsors, All Day 20K participants also receive the official 5K medal, an exclusive 20K trucker hat, and a pair of custom Knockaround sunglasses. Swag city!

Q: When I registered I said yes to the free pair of Knockaround sunglasses. Do I still get those?
A: Yes! Qualified registrants will receive their limited-edition Carlsbad 5000 Knockaround sunglasses in the mail along with their race kits.

Q: Will the 2021 event still take place on April 10-11 as originally announced?
A: We appreciate and understand the desire for answers on next year’s race. At this time, we cannot guarantee the event date for 2021 as it will need to take into account guidelines and regulations for large scale events that have yet to be established.

Q: How do I get a refund?
A: Refunds will not be issued. Our Cancellations and Refunds Policy (available here) states that entry fees are non-refundable and non-cancellable and is agreed to by all participants at the time of registration. We are doing our best to deliver a great race experience, albeit virtually, and truly appreciate your understanding.

Q: In March I opted to defer my entry to 2021. Is my entry still deferred?
A: All 2020 registrations including previous deferrals will be automatically switched to the virtual race and no further action is needed to confirm this change. Given the uncertainty around when California will enter Phase 4 of reopening communities and allowing mass gatherings, we are unable to honor deferrals at this time. We simply do not know what the future holds for running events next year and beyond.
