The Carlsbad 5000 is Southern California’s premier 5K road race, featuring a full weekend of running festivities. The “World’s Fastest 5K” welcomes runners of all ages and paces to a fast and fun oceanfront course known for its unforgettable views and energetic atmosphere.

The Carlsbad 5000 is a full day of running on the Coast Highway 101. This iconic event features individual 5K road races for all ages & abilities, including Men’s & Women’s Masters Divisions (40 & Older), Men’s & Women’s Open Divisions (39 & Under), the Non-Competitive People’s Race (Joggers & Walkers, All Ages), & the Elite Invitational. The post-race experience features the Health & Fitness Expo, Pizza Port Beer Garden, live music, and more.

The Carlsbad 5000 is a legendary flat and fast race with an out-and-back course entirely on Coast Highway 101. Runners wind through palm trees overlooking the sand and surf for 3.1 miles before finishing under the iconic Carlsbad sign, where spectators line the seaside streets to cheer on the runners of the World’s Fastest 5K! The Carlsbad 5000 course is USATF-sanctioned and certified.

The All Day 20K is a long-standing tradition at the Carlsbad 5000, where participants run a total of 20 kilometers by completing four consecutive 5K races throughout the day (back-to-back-to-back-to-back):

Kids ages 4-12 race against the clock in a 1-mile or half-mile distance on the famed Carlsbad 5000 course. Family members line the barricades to cheer on these amazing young runners crossing the official Carlsbad 5000 finish line. After the kids finish, families stick around to witness the world’s fastest elites attempt to set national and world records on the same course later that day!
Plus, four-time Olympian and Carlsbad 5000 ambassador, Meb Keflezighi, will be sure to make race weekend extra special!
Carlsbad 5000 is excited to partner with the MEB Foundation to promote youth health, education, and fitness. Founded by Olympic medalist Meb Keflezighi, the MEB Foundation supports programs that align perfectly with our goal of fostering a healthy, active community through running. Leading up to the Carlsbad 5000 and throughout race weekend, we will be working alongside the MEB Foundation to host outreach events to engage local schools, youth groups, and organizations, fostering a culture of youth health and fitness throughout San Diego County and beyond.
